Project Background: Company had started business in leased space in neighboring Marlboro, MA. The Owner purchased an existing building that was formerly the Northborough Lumber Co. and had been abandoned for a lengthy amount of years. An architect was hired by the Owner and design plans were completed and submitted to several pre-qualified General Contractors for bid submittals.

Key Project Requirements: Plans called for retention of as much of the original wood framed building as possible with the addition of a steel framed second floor mezzanine to the interior of the structure. Time constraints were imposed as Plasticard was operating out of temporary space and needed to move into the new facility before this lease ran out. Northborough required that building style blend into the downtown New England village design which had been adopted the previous year.

Design decisions executed within budget constraints.
Open space design on first floor and second floor mezzanine offices with exposed timber trusses resulted in both a unique finish but also a worker friendly environment.
