HONDA GALLERY – READING, MA

Architect: BKA Architects
Civil Engineer: Whitman & Bingham Associates
Environmental Engineer: Loitherstein Environmental Inc.

Gallery Group, one of the area’s leading automotive dealers, needed an accelerated schedule to complete a two-building project. The new home of Honda Gallery (formerly Honda Barn) involved a massive demolition and renovation. During construction, Senate dealt with unsuitable soil conditions at the site of the new service building, requiring the installation of approximately four hundred Ram Aggregate Piers to bring the soil up to structural requirements before the building foundations were installed.

One of the two original buildings was gutted and remodeled to serve as the Honda Gallery Sales Showroom and administrative building. The other building on the site was demolished and replaced with a two-story, state-of-the art Service Center. Collaborating closely with BKA Architects and The Gallery Group, Senate Construction was able to work on both buildings simultaneously throughout the winter to complete the project and meet a spring grand opening, as planned. Senate’s coordination of the various project components was instrumental in making this two-building auto dealership a success.
